The invisible burden of everyday documents
Document generation
Document generation
Thought leadership article by Mia L. Monza
Most of us work with documents every single day. They’re fundamental to how modern work – and society – functions. Yet strangely, documents rarely appear in our job descriptions. They’re seen as a supporting act, not the main event. Just a tool to help us do the “real” work.
But more often than not, documents, and the processes surrounding them, start to take up far more space than we expect. Organizing, updating, formatting, double-checking, routing, chasing approvals… what was once a simple step becomes a time-consuming task. And that affects more than just productivity; it impacts mental well-being and work-life balance.

Without sounding like I’m just tooting my own horn; it’s document automation and generation.
To restore balance and free people to do the jobs we actually hired them to do, we need to rethink how we handle documents. We need to reduce the invisible load they create.
We need to take back the time these processes quietly consume.
We need to stop that familiar pit-in-the-stomach feeling when sending out a document – wondering if all the corrections were made, if the data is right, if something was missed.
We need to stop pacing while waiting for things to be signed or filled out and worry that the recipient is pacing too.
We need to worry less about the document, and more about the service, the experience, and the value.
Not just for the customer or recipient, but for our own peace of mind.
That’s why now is the time to make the shift. With the pace of technology (especially AI), there is no reason to let outdated manual workflows weigh us down. If we want to retain skilled, motivated teams and stay competitive in our fields, we need to give people tools that support them.
And for many of us, that starts with how we handle our documents.
